New UK expert

PRESS RELEASE dated 2007-03-07

The UK has a new ISO expert for Software & Systems Documentation. Cerys Giddings, from IBM, will represent the interests of the UK at the ISO standardisation meeting in Moscow in May 2007. She takes over the role of Principal UK Expert from Mike Unwalla of TechScribe.

"International Standards for software documentation provide best-practice guidelines," says Cerys. "The Standards help technical writers to produce clear user documentation for application software."

Convenor of the working group, Richard Hodgkinson, explains, "Experts develop ISO standards by consensus. Practitioners from different countries comment on draft documents. Each country's representative puts forward the views of practitioners from that country."

"I'd like to welcome Cerys to the group and I'd like to thank Mike for his valuable contributions in the past. Mike will continue to work behind-the-scenes on the development of Standards," adds Richard.
